The procedure is usually painless because the affected tooth is locally anesthetized.

Unfortunately, root canal treated teeth can become inflamed. The reason is usually bacterial colonization or incompletely removed tissue in the root canals. The inflammation can be associated with pain.

After clarification using an X-ray, the following therapy is recommended:

Root canal retreatment

Apicoectomy

Tooth extraction and dental prosthesis

Root canal retreatment is the gentlest option:

First, the (old) filling or crown is removed and a small access to the root canals is created.

Subsequently, a thorough disinfection of the root canals and possibly an insertion of a disinfecting medication takes place.

Now the tooth roots are newly “filled” and the tooth is tightly sealed again.

After 3-6 months, we assess the success of the retreatment. This time is needed for the formerly inflamed tissue at the root tip to regenerate.

If the affected tooth continues to show signs of inflammation despite retreatment, removal of the tooth should be considered for holistic reasons. Otherwise, the bacterial colonization of the root canals can cause damage throughout the body. After tooth extraction, a dental prosthesis can be planned using an implant, bridge or a partial denture.

We would be happy to advise you.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”3817″ add_caption=”yes” style=”vc_box_shadow_3d”][vc_single_image image=”4368″ add_caption=”yes” style=”vc_box_shadow_3d”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]We perform microscopic root canal retreatment – a tooth-preserving measure – in our practice in Vienna.

[93,11

post-4726","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-endodontic","category-general
["GET
