Modern diagnostics in the third dimension
In our practice in Vienna, patients benefit from a modern imaging procedure called DVT = Digital Volume Tomography (also called 3D X-ray). In ordinary cases, such as caries diagnostics, conventional (2D) X-rays are sufficient.
However, the third dimension is indispensable for special questions. Examples in modern dentistry are:
- The exact planning of dental implants in the jawbone using a computer
- In special cases: apicoectomy, wisdom tooth removal
- Representation of inflammation in the jawbone (e.g. a root-canal treated tooth)
Thanks to modern procedures, the radiation exposure is significantly lower than with computed tomography. The recording is created in less than a minute and can be discussed after approx. 15 minutes. On request, you can take the 3D recording with you on a USB stick.
We look forward to your visit and will be happy to advise you.
