What happens during a teeth cleaning session?

A :

Prophylaxis (prophy) removes plaque build-up that cannot be removed by brushing, and includes tooth polishing. We use a special ultrasonic scaler to remove debris. At the end of each session we use fluoride to remineralize the outer part of your teeth.

How long does a prophylaxis session take?

A :

Depending on individual factors (dental calculus, discoloration, tooth restorations) about 20 min - 1 1/2 hours.

How often should I go to a prophylaxis session

A :

Depending on individual factors. about 1 - 4 times a year. To help maintain the results of a periodontitis therapy, a special, shorter cleaning is performed every 8, 10 or 12 weeks.

Prophylaxis sessions have to be paid privately, the rate depends on the time needed for each session.
